Everly's Circus Extravaganza Bedroom!

Everly's Circus Extravaganza Bedroom!

Circus themed kids bedroom
Roll up, Roll up!!! The Circus is a timeless classic!
Adored by children all around the world from generation to generation.
I was well and truly in touch with my inner child whilst creating this uber special space. If I closed my eyes, I could smell the sweet popcorn, and the fresh hay laid out for elephants adorned with headdresses intended to wow their captive audience! Ahhhh the nostalgia!

Everly is my dear friend’s youngest daughter. She is almost 3, and what she lacks in height and life experience she makes up for in charisma! This kid will steal your heart and have you in absolute stitches! Everly is chaotic, playful and vibrant, and she has bags of energy! So when her Mummy asked me to create her a Circus themed bedroom I knew it was the perfect scheme to match her winning personality!
I’m not normally keen on ‘themes’ because I think there’s a real risk of overdoing it. I was conscious throughout the design process of keeping this interior sophisticated whilst still delivering the drama. And boy did it deliver…this room is bold, bright and full of character- just like my mini client!
I’m a real fan of the paint technique used in Everly’s room. The use of a bold, primary pallet is key to this scheme.  Printing spots on the 2 longest walls gives the room a generous pop of colour and a sense of depth whilst remaining sensitive to the rooms shape and size.
For the cherry on top, the room was crying out for a mural (as if I really needed much of an excuse to include one!) I’ve already utilised this idea in my own girls’ playroom but I really do love the way these guys appear to clutch to their balloon wall lights. And that monkey just really makes me smile- thats what the Circus is all about! Smiles and laughter!
This room was always going to be filled with whimsical props and quirky decor (yeah I know I said I don’t like themes) and I had some serious fun with the customised makes for Everly’s room.

Fiona Walker has well and truly made her stamp in the world of kids’ interiors and with good reason- her felt animal trophy heads are truly enchanting and a real talking point; however they sometimes come with a hefty price tag. There are some really good competitors on the market though- Our gorgeous Nellie came from French company, Child Wood. To get him dazzling his audience I pieced together this gorgeous felt headdress complete with Ostrich feather! I just love this feature!

Everly’s existing furniture lacked individuality and was crying out for an up-style. The Ikea Kallax unit was raised off the ground using stylish hairpin legs and the Drona draws were also given some attention using fabric paints and stamps with a little pom pom trim for good measure!
Finally her Malm chest of drawers were also glammed up using gold contact cut to size and shape. Now neither piece would be out of place under the Big Top!
So there you have it. This room delivers all the drama that you'll find at the Circus. It may be themed, but it’s a winning theme none the less and a real triumph!
